The purpose of the survey was to assess and promote those community colleges that provide a high-level of service through information technologies. The Digital Community Colleges Survey is an outgrowth of a continuing dialogue with educators, administrators and education technologists.
At the conclusion of the survey, the following community colleges ranked in the top ten:

2002 Digital States Survey/Education
The Center for Digital Government, in conjunction with Government Technology magazine and The Progress & Freedom Foundation, conducted the 2002 Digital State Survey, which focused on eight areas of digital technologies. Part III, Education category, focused on the utilization of digital technologies for educational purposes, including the provision of online access for administrative functions such as student admissions, financial aid and course registration, access to the Internet, and access to school performance measures.
