On Tuesday the county government announced the start of its Digital Literacy Coaches & Navigator Program, which will pair volunteer college students with those seeking one-on-one instruction on basic digital literacy skill building.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has deepened the need to access technology for everyday tasks and living,” stated the announcement posted to the county’s website. "Everything from medical appointments, taking a class, or purchasing groceries now requires the skill to navigate computers or mobile devices and the internet like never before.”
The volunteers will be able to instruct participants in areas including mouse and keyboard use, internet browser use, creating an email account, basic word processing, internet searches, privacy and security, and finding trusted sources for additional learning.
