A Squeegee Handle and Determination Saved Lives on 9/11

For those who never heard the story.

It has been 20 years since the events of 9/11, and many people either were not born or were too young to follow the many stories of harrowing events from that day.

This morning I woke up and this event came to mind: Six men escaped certain death by taking action to save themselves. See “How a Squeegee Handle Became a Life-Saving Tool on September 11, 2001.”

These men could have sat down and bemoaned their fate being trapped in an elevator, but they didn’t. We don’t know of other stories where people had similar circumstances, but no tool or idea of how to save themselves. We only know this story because the six men walked, or rather ran, away from danger due to their determination and creativity.

When you are faced with seemingly insurmountable events, look around and find people or things that can help you overcome the obstacle. Never give up!
