British Columbia Hit Hard by Storms

Most people likely remember the forecast for an atmospheric river to sweep across the Pacific Northwest. I notice that, usually, the media thinks and acts like there is nothing north of Washington state.

However, our neighbors to the north did get slammed, so while our rain and flood damages are real, their storm is being describe as the worst in a century, which is different than talking about a one hundred year flood as a point of measurement.

Here’s an article from the Seattle Times: “Vancouver, B.C., is cut off by road, rail after ‘extraordinary’ storms.”

Once again, the supply chain and our “just in time” supply system is being tested with people rushing out to stock up on supplies due to roadways and railways being significantly impacted.

I keep thinking about what it will look like after a subduction earthquake here in the Pacific Northwest. We won’t be talking about days or weeks, but months and even years to repair and replace roadways and bridges.
