Building Is Out of Control, Leading to Wildfires Out of Control

This NPR segment captures the issue perfectly.

It is pretty rare that a media segment captures the guts of an issue perfectly. This one focuses on some primary issues when it comes to wildfires and the destruction of homes. Key points:

  • There are no building codes in many rural areas
  • People have no sense of the danger of wildfires
  • Homeowners think they can call 911 and get help
  • Governments are letting people put themselves and their property in danger
  • Ignorance burns up a lifetime of saving for the future

Here is the NPR story: “Wildfires Are A Growing Risk In Places Where The Danger Used To Be Minimal.”

Once a person “becomes aware,” the only thing left is Firewise, which might help save their property.
