Considering Deferred Maintenance in Disaster Recovery

Perhaps deferred maintenance will become a standard consideration by FEMA.

The dollar amounts for dam repairs in California are likely what drew the attention to prior maintenance of the Oroville Dam when considering what to contribute to the repairs to the facility.

See this article Moody’s: FEMA’s Decision About California Dam Is a Signal to States and Localities.

I expect politics will enter into the decision-making process. With that in mind, it might not be looking good for California given the expressed animosity between the president and the new governor of California — on other topic areas.

Clearly, the president is a quid-pro-quo type of guy who sees many issues via a transactional relationship. You do this to me and watch what I do to you!

Good luck, California!
