Crisis Event Management (CEM) Tools

There is more than WebEOC out there!

We are only at the beginning of the technological development of tools to increase our ability to become more effective in detecting and responding to incidents.

Take WebEOC, for instance. It is a response management software. In the world of Critical Event Management (CEM), identifying your risks up front and then having a system to detect events and alert you to them is part of the equation, along with notifying response teams of an event.

Check out this YouTube video of such a product: “How Zapoj Works.” It is an example of what is possible.

Some may think that this type of system is only applicable to large international businesses, but I think the concepts contained in the system are very applicable to other less geographically diverse organizations.

Like in doing a warning, the first challenge is detecting the hazard.

Now is not the time to be afraid of new technology, but to embrace it. We have to move forward with our eyes and ears open, looking for new solutions to our old problems.
