Disaster Zone Podcast: Protecting Pets from Disasters

Today, pets are members of the family.

Disasters impact people and families, and part of those families today are the pets that live with us in our homes. This Disaster Zone podcast is all about “Protecting Pets from Disasters.”

Agencies need to plan for people who own pets. We have seen that people with pets behave differently in a disaster. Helping people prepare to take care of their pets in disasters can be critical to helping protect their owners as well.

Here’s the podcast’s description:

“Pets are part of the family. They come in a variety of types of animals, birds, reptiles, and they sometimes get more attention than other two-legged members of the family. When disasters strike, they are just as easily impacted as humans. In this podcast we explore what people can do before a disaster to protect their pets and then what to do when a disaster does strike. Sharon Hawa, a Senior Strategist with Best Friends Network Partners is the guest on this podcast.”
