Disaster Zone Podcast: Reducing Disaster Deaths

We do not have a national system for reducing disaster deaths.

The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act had a dramatic impact on reducing deaths from transportation accidents. My guest, Dr. Mark Keim, along with others is proposing having a similar effort to reduce the number of disaster deaths that have remained constant over the years.

Listen to this edition of the Disaster Zone podcast, “Reducing Disaster Deaths,” to learn more about those efforts.

Without action, and because of the increasing frequency and severity of deaths, we can expect the death toll to rise in the coming years. Understanding the causes of these deaths and working on prevention is what is needed.
