It is not every day that you see a headline like this one: “
Former head of Arizona’s emergency management agency announces Senate bid.”
Call it “clickbait” for emergency managers — this one is about the former commander of the Arizona National Guard. I would think that it would have been more accurate or impactful to have that job/position be the highlight for the news item.
Likely, it is not wrong to list the former adjutant general as the former director of emergency management, since it is not atypical to have the commanders hold the title while he or she has a working professional emergency manager handling the details and managing the everyday job of emergency management director.
For some reason, they thought it would have more impact by listing the emergency management duties.
Eric Holdeman is a nationally known emergency manager. He has worked in emergency management at the federal, state and local government levels. Today he serves as the Director, Center for Regional Disaster Resilience (CRDR), which is part of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER). The focus for his work there is engaging the public and private sectors to work collaboratively on issues of common interest, regionally and cross jurisdictionally.
