Franciscan Health System Hacked

This puts patients and treatments in limbo.

I saw someone the other day that I had known was going to have knee replacement surgery. He was out and about, so I asked him, “Hey what about the knee?” He shared that his surgery was canceled because his hospital had been hacked and they did not have access to his records in order to do the surgery.

This, then, was the Franciscan Health System hack, described here: “Security incident with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health causing patient worries.” This issue went on for a number of days, and I’m not sure it is fixed yet.

It is but another example of how ransomware attacks are impacting our everyday lives.
