IEM Is Hiring Emergency Managers

Have you ever considered taking a detour and pursuing an emergency management career in the private sector?

This is just one example of a consulting firm, IEM, with over 50 open positions. Some of the positions are more technical than others, and I expect experience is something they would like to have, but sometimes there are exceptions to the rule.

Consulting gives you a broad range of experiences and you are not trapped in one small jurisdiction. You can always go back to government if you don’t like the work.

My last tip is don’t think that consulting is a “get over gig.” They work long, hard hours and while you may have flexibility, the higher you go in the organization, you also have “flexibility” to work weekends and holidays if the mission requires it.
