National Homeland Security Conference 2013

This one will be hosted in Los Angeles

It appeared to me that the organizers for the National Homeland Security Conference 2013 got an early start on their planning for the event...and then we didn't hear anything for a long time.  Now they do have information out on how to register and the draft conference agenda  Remember this is the replacement event for the annual Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) events that were held for a number of years.  Broadening it was a good idea since the UASI funds are dying on the vine and for the foreseeable future will only continue to decline--unless of course there is another terrorist attack.

The dates are June 4-7, 2013 and this should be the largest event of its type due to combining it with other conferences.  It will be hosted in conjunction with the Major Cities Chief Intel Commanders Meeting and the Leaders in Counterterrorism Conference.  They are expecting upwards of 2,000 attendees.

The Los Angeles Mayor's Office has been involved with this event so I think it will have significant backing to make sure this is a success.

There are multiple conference tracks:

1. DOD Support to Emergency Managers
2. Interoperability
3. Medical and Health
4. Grants and Program Management
5. Public/Private Partnerships
6. Port Security
7. Transit Security
8. Emergency Management
9. Fire/CBRNE
10. Pre-planned Events
11. Role of SAA
