It is stories like the above that give me hope for the future. I'm beginning to think that it will take generations Y and Z to bring reform to the United States. The recent school shooting in Florida has motivated students to lead, since older generations appear to be frozen in their positions and beliefs. Just as the publication of this book had the energy and impetus from children, I can't wait to see what the NRA might say about these kids and their beliefs, or what the president might tweet if he comes in for criticism from them. To use a famous Japanese quote following the attack on Pearl Harbor, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." This may be the younger generations' resolve that attacks many of the current issues our elected leaders are reluctant to confront.
