The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced CISA Central

Simplify is the answer.

If you are not clued into all the national "centers," it is a confusing mix of acronyms to try to keep up with. Therefore, I appreciate CISA taking a step to simplify where to get information. See their announcement below and do take time to check out https://www.cisa.gov/central

Critical Infrastructure Colleagues and Partners,

Today the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced CISA Central: our updated approach to information sharing and situational awareness that streamlines and combines previously separate NPPD-era parts of our organization. This is an important step as the Agency continues to mature and make strategic changes that support a unified approach to cyber, communications, and physical security.

This is what Congress, our partners, and the American public expect of CISA as the Nation’s risk advisor—an integrated, all-risks, cross-functional center, purpose-built to break down legacy stovepipes and enable more effective understanding, sharing, and coordination of activities across the critical infrastructure community.  Cyber, communications, or physical, CISA Central is the one-stop-shop for information sharing and situational awareness monitoring.

Under the hood, CISA Central consolidates the people, process, and technology for operations and information sharing activities within CISA under a single team. This includes parts of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC), National Infrastructure Coordinating Center (NICC), and National Coordinating Center for Communications (NCC). Rather than name the combined organization the “NCCICNICCNCC,” we kept it simple – CISA Central.  No acronyms, just a clear name that reflects its purpose – the simplest, most straightforward, centralized way to interact with CISA.

The best part is, you don’t have to do anything to benefit from this change.  If you’re already working with CISA through any one of our more specialized engagements, or if you’re signed up for alerts or bulletins, those will all continue unaffected.  You’ll also see some new email addresses popping up, so you might want to tag Central@cisa.gov on your email filtering “allow” lists.

We remain committed to maturing CISA into an agency that meets the needs of all our stakeholders in our effort to build a collective defense against the full range of threats our nation faces. The response to COVID-19, like the response to the Iran escalation earlier in the year, has reinforced the need for coordinated, frequent, and effective communications with the critical infrastructure community. Through CISA Central we are working to ensure you have easy access to both share with us and receive information from us.

Going forward, please feel free to contact us at Central@cisa.gov. I am grateful for your continued support and engagement with CISA as we work together to Defend Today, Secure Tomorrow.
