And you think you have dealt with bad flooding. Pakistan is dealing with rainfall that exceeded 500 percent of normal rain coming from the monsoon season. This combined with glacial runoff has turned a flood into a catastrophe.

Some of the basics have to do with the extent of the damages. Imagine 5,000 kilometers of road that have been damaged. That is the distance from Seattle to Chicago and back again. With those roads gone there are also innumerable bridges that have been damaged or destroyed.

The future is easy to predict. Disease, famine, sickness and death. The health-care system has also been wiped out in many areas of the country.

Unfortunately, these types of stories will be coming again and again around the United States and the world.
