Two Women Gain Senior Appointments in Emergency Management

New York City and New Hampshire get new leaders.

I see that two women have been appointed to senior leadership positions for their respective city and state. Here are the details:

Deanne Criswell Named New NYC Emergency Management Commissioner

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL CONFIRMS HARPER AS DIRECTOR OF STATE HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Congratulations to both of them, who have good credentials for the positions they will fill.

The only other note I'd add is that the previous incumbent in NYC was fired for the response to a snowstorm. Adding another casualty to the list of emergency managers "eliminated" by snow. Beware the snowstorm!!

Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
