We Will Have a Big Problem With Deepfakes

Another “shields up” issue. Don’t believe your eyes and ears!

Oh, I lament the good old days when you would see someone on TV and you could decide if you liked what they were saying — because it was 100 percent real.

Those days are almost behind us. Major television news operations will, I think, be able to screen out deepfakes and not share them with their audiences. Podcasters, bloggers and other Internet purveyors of “information,” however, may not be so inclined that you can trust them implicitly.

Check out this article: “The Deepfake issue: 43% of People Believe They Can't Spot a Deepfake.”

Earlier here on this blog I shared a 60 Minutes segment on deepfakes. The quality of the video they shared was beyond my ability to discern it was a fake.

Troubles, troubles, troubles ahead for you and me.
