"We'll Be Back in Two Weeks!"

We were all so naive in our pandemic thinking.

Think back to March 15, 2020. That was the date in Washington state that everything shut down. Employees stayed home, restaurants closed, we ran out of toilet paper and people scrambled to find a way to work remotely.

Someone I know shared how back then he saw a sign in the window of a business, "We'll be back in two weeks!" Little did they know that two weeks would turn into two years for some people. If anything out of the pandemic was a surprise in months of surprises, it was the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. It just keeps rolling along!

The latest news has new variants popping up internationally. Here in the Pacific Northwest we are seeing an uptick in cases — thank you Easter celebrations!

As people have said, we may be over with COVID-19, but COVID-19 is not over with us. In my office of 10 people, two have come down with COVID-19 in the last 14-16 days. One just returning from a week of travel and conferences, with up to 2,000 people in attendance.

Some places are taking a very conservative response approach. Senior living facilities are banning guests, requiring masks indoors, canceling group activities, to include group dining. Is it an overreaction? I don't think so for the age group being served. Even for the folks who are now double boosted, you can still contract the disease.

Thankfully, this time around I don't think they will close golf courses — to outdoor activities. Personally, I'm ready to hit the links and be frustrated by something other than COVID-19. My slice for instance!
