Will Hurricane Laura Cause a Spike in COVID-19 Cases?

A disaster within a pandemic "was" a worst fear.

Ever since the coronavirus entered the United States and spread widely across the continent there has been the concern by emergency managers about what might happen if there was a large natural disaster, like a hurricane, happen while the pandemic was still underway. We are about to find out what those impacts might be.

Steps were taken to try to mitigate the possible disease transmission by putting people into hotel rooms versus sending them to school gymnasiums. Still, there is the movement of people across states and regions and a mixing of people with some bound to be infected by COVID-19.

Once again we will need to wait about 2-3 weeks to see what the impacts to caseloads are as people return to their homes.
