Electronic Building Plan System Rolling Out in L.A. County

Customers in some communities can now upload engineering plans for review, pay fees and track projects from submission to permit approval 24/7.

L.A. County Public Works is continuing to phase in its new online building records system and expects to go live in all district offices by 2015.

With the electronic plan check system at www.dpw.lacounty.gov/bsd/bsop, customers can now upload engineering plans for review, pay fees and track projects from submission to permit approval 24/7.

Like many systems of its kind across the nation, county officials say the system saves time and money and reduces the amount of paper records.

The online system was first implemented earlier this year at the East Los Angeles and Universal City Building and Safety district offices. The system also is now available in permit offices for unincorporated communities within Antelope Valley, Calabasas, Santa Clarita Valley and East Los Angeles, the Public Works Department says.
