The New Haven-based Regional Water Authority has hired a former National Grid executive in order to fill the newly created position there of vice president and chief information and digital officer.

(TNS) — The New Haven, Conn., Regional Water Authority has hired a former National Grid executive to fill the newly created position of vice president-chief information and digital officer.

In his new job, Premjith Singh will lead the utility’s development of a technology and digital road map and work to create technology to improve the experience customers have in terms of dealing with the authority. Singh starts his new job Nov. 12.

Larry Bingaman, the utility’s president and chief executive officer, said Singh “brings significant expertise in helping companies develop innovative, agile digital solutions that transform their business and allow them to better meet the needs and expectations of customers.”

Bingaman said the authority is looking to develop new technology that will help transform the traditional water utility into a 21st-century environmental services company.

Singh spent nearly two years at National Grid, where he served as chief information officer and vice president of information technology. Before joining National Grid, Singh served in various technology and business transformation leadership roles for 12 years at Orange-based Avangrid and its predecessor company, UIL Holdings.
