A Roadmap for the New Decade

As this new decade unfolds, state and local government leaders are continuing to build on the foundational technologies that have transformed our world -- cloud computing augmented by artificial intelligence and a perpetual influx of massive amounts of data. That was our Oracle Government 360 story, a 360-degree examination of how advances in technology can help government become more efficient, innovative, connected and ultimately more predictive.

A complete migration to cloud isn’t easy, although some cities, such as Atlanta, have done exactly that. Others, like the state of Texas, are taking a more modular approach. There’s no right answer and no absolute path for any one agency.

That’s why, over the coming months, we will be exploring how technology can help influence and shape a new kind of agency, one that is prepared to meet the varied challenges of this new decade head-on. Check back frequently for new updates and content on these critical topics:

Module 1: Smarter Security for a Better Protected Government
Module 2: Machine Learning for a More Intelligent Government

Data in all forms is the “crown jewel” of any government agency. Oracle’s genesis as a database company forms a backdrop to help agencies think differently about data and create insights for employees and citizens. We will explain the role of autonomous technology in government infrastructure – raising awareness of Autonomous Data Warehousing (ADW) and its role in improving government through self-patching, security, scalability and enhanced machine learning functions.

Module 3: Hybrid Infrastructure for a More Innovative Government

Agencies cannot just jump to the cloud, yet they seek some level of modernization. A hybrid cloud solution allows agencies to reap the benefits of IT modernization while ensuring their heavily customized applications can be used in a cloud environment. A hybrid infrastructure sets the stage for a series of incremental, bite-sized steps toward modernization while taking advantage of new technologies like Blockchain and Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP), a new technology that helps propel the speed of government activities.

Module 4: A Government IT Leader’s Cloud Maturity Model

How to Deploy Protected, Managed and Autonomous Government Infrastructure

Modernizing large, enterprise legacy systems is not simple. What’s needed is a bridge to begin the modernization journey through a modular approach. Oracle can help pull all the pieces together, starting with determining what moves to cloud, what could move to cloud and what, potentially, will never move to cloud.
