Calvin Rhodes Named Georgia CIO

The Georgia Technology Authority confirms Gov. Nathan Deal’s selection of Calvin Rhodes as executive director and state CIO.

Calvin Rhodes has been named the Georgia Technology Authority’s (GTA) executive director and state CIO, the agency announced Thursday, Jan. 27.

Rhodes was appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal, then confirmed by the GTA’s board of directors. He has already begun his duties as executive director, according to a press release.

Rhodes replaces Patrick Moore, who left the post earlier this month to take a job with Hewlett-Packard. In 2007, Moore was appointed to the position by former Gov. Sonny Perdue and held the position for four years, according to the GTA’s website.

Rhodes founded and served as a managing partner for private investment firm Paladin Investments. Rhodes also worked for the Georgia-based Fulton Paper Co. for 27 years, serving at various times as CIO, vice president of IT and executive vice president.

The Georgia Technology Authority partners with IBM and AT&T for the state’s IT management and service delivery.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve the state, and I look forward to working with Gov. Deal, the GTA staff, state agencies and our private-sector partners,” Rhodes said in a statement. “Together we will move forward with key initiatives and see that Georgia’s IT management sets the example for other states.”
