Connecticut Troopers Use Drones to Investigate Crashes

Connecticut State Police have recently begun using some new drone technologies to help troopers with the investigations of serious and fatal motor vehicle crashes, aiming to reduce time at scenes.

(TNS) — Connecticut State Police have been using some new technology to help troopers investigate serious and fatal motor vehicle crashes.

On Thursday, members of the state police’s Collision Analysis Reconstruction Squad met with members of the state Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Association to go over the new drone program being used by state police.

Troopers use the drone in investigation into collisions that involve a fatality or serious injuries.

State police said the use of the drone program has “significantly cut down the time at scenes,” as well as increased overall safety for first responders and all others involved while simultaneously preserving the integrity of the investigation.
