(TNS) — Boulder has announced the launch of a new web-based emergency mapping tool that will help emergency responders plan and coordinate evacuations more efficiently.

According to a Boulder news release, the new platform, Zonehaven, will also allow members of the community to access real-time information on emergency and evacuations.

"After many months of hard work from members of multiple departments across the city, we are excited for the launch of this software," Wildland Division Chief Brian Oliver stated in the release. "Zonehaven not only helps us as first responders execute evacuation notifications more quickly and effectively, it also gets critical emergency information into the hands of community members in a way we haven't been able to achieve before."

Community members are encouraged to view the map at community.zonehaven.com and find their zone number by entering their address in the search bar ahead of the next emergency.

Zonehaven is not a replacement for Everbridge or Wireless Emergency Alerts, although future alerts through those systems will include links to Zonehaven. Community members may sign up for Everbridge alerts at boco911alert.com.
