Vulcan is a mobile 3-D printer designed to operate continuously even during power fluctuations and water shortages. In less than 24 hours, it can print an 800-square-foot, single-story home that costs less than $4,000.
The first of these homes was unveiled recently in Austin, Texas. The two companies hope to begin printing them for communities in El Salvador by the end of next year, and then expand from there. New Story will manage donations to cover the costs of the homes.
