Known for making robots that resemble real-world creatures, automation company Festo is back with its latest creation: the BionicWheelBot. It is modeled after a real-world spider, known as the Flic-Flac spider, that does cartwheels in order to rapidly outrun a pursuer.

The BionicWheelBot has eight legs, six to crawl around on in what we would consider normal spider-mode, and two more that it uses to propel itself forward when in rolling-mode. To be able to roll itself forward, the robot turns its six regular spider legs into two wheels on either side of its body, then uses the remaining two legs to push itself forward.
