Italy is currently under lockdown due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but the country still wants to share its amazing museums and galleries with the world. So, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has turned to one of the easiest and most popular ways of reaching people: social media.

On March 29, the organization encouraged people to post photos of their favorite museums and cultural sites from around the country. There is one caveat though: The sites must be empty in the photos. Shared with the hashtags #artyouready and #emptymuseum, the photos will hopefully give people a way to immerse themselves in these beautiful places from the safety and comfort of their homes.

Today @_MiBACT is encouraging all visitors to engage into a flashmob to share (old) images of empty Italian museums, waiting for the end of #coronavirus and their re-opening! Empty Ara Pacis Museum. #artyouready #emptymuseum #noinonmolliamo #iorestoacasa #litaliachiamò #MICRoma pic.twitter.com/fDgdxD6y3K — Milestone Rome (@MilestoneRome) March 29, 2020
