The ride-hailing company’s self-driving cars recently resumed testing in Pittsburgh, with some changes, ending a pause in operations after a fatal crash in Arizona in March. The self-driving trucks that Uber was also testing, however, were not so lucky. The company announced Monday that, after a court battle and leadership changes, it will no longer test self-driving freight trucks.

Eric Meyhofer, who leads Uber Advanced Technologies Group, said that for now the San Francisco-based trucking team will be joining the self-driving passenger vehicle efforts. In an email to employees, reviewed by TechCrunch, Meyhofer said, “we believe delivering on self-driving for passenger applications first, and then bringing it to freight applications down the line, is the best path forward. For now, we need the focus of one team, with one clear objective.”
