Researchers at MIT are developing a wrist-mounted robot that lends a couple extra fingers, allowing its user to perform two-handed tasks with just one hand. In a video demonstration, a researcher shows how a glove laced with sensors translates the user’s hand movements to guide two extra digits protruding from the base of the device. The researchers suggested that the device could be made to learn and adapt to how its user moves, eventually performing as seamlessly as real fingers.
