Google filed a patent for technology that would help the company track potholes via vehicle GPS and other sensors. The information collected would be stored in a database and then used to help drivers choose a smoother route while navigating. To readers of Government Technology, the idea may sound familiar because the Boston Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics developed a similar technology called Street Bump.
