How is Twitter hoping to combat 2020 Census misinformation?

Answer: By providing links to the official U.S. Census website.

Facebook and Twitter login windows
As the hype surrounding the first “high-tech Census” ramps up, so too have concerns that misinformation about it is spreading online. Social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook are some of the most common sources of information on the Internet, whether that information be true or false. That’s why the former has launched a new tool aimed at preventing users from encountering false facts about the 2020 Census.

With the new tool, any Twitter user who searches for information on the 2020 Census will see a link to the Census website at the very top of their search results, no matter what they were looking for. According to CNET, Twitter already does this for popular health topics searched on its platform, such as vaccines or the new coronavirus. There is not, however, any hard data on how effective this tool is at preventing the spread of misinformation.
