For about three hours early Wednesday morning, users everywhere were reporting that their feeds were full of nothing but posts sent to celebrity accounts like The Beatles and Lady Gaga.
The Internet being the delightful hellscape that it is, users immediately started having fun with the situation by sending memes, donation links and cryptocurrency promotions to celebrities so that everyone else would see them.
Meta spokesperson Alexandru Voica had to turn to another social media platform to address the issue, tweeting that “a configuration change” was responsible for the issues. He said it had been resolved and apologized for the inconvenience but did not provide any further details.
