There’s one good way to bring awareness to just about any subject: making it go viral. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has done just that with a public service announcement about keeping Christmas trees sufficiently watered.

The PSA, which the agency tweeted Nov. 13, features an image of a flaming skeleton emerging from a decorated Christmas tree above a caption saying “water your Christmas tree.” The caption goes on to state that dry Christmas trees burn faster than newspaper. People are simply loving it, as evidenced by the original tweets, tens of thousands of likes and thousands of retweets, with users commenting things like “what if I WANT to meet the burning christmas skeleton.”
The subject matter behind the hilarious PSA, though, is no joke. According to the CPSC, every year there are about 100 Christmas tree fires and 1,100 candle fires. These fires cause 20 deaths, 160 injuries and $50 million in property damage each year. So please don’t try to meet the flaming Christmas skeleton and just let it live in infamy on your Twitter feed.
