After years of promises and speculations from CEO Elon Musk, The Boring Co. finally has its first fully operational underground tunnel to transport passengers inside Tesla vehicles. Built 40 feet beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center, the system covers 1.7 miles with two one-way tunnels.

Passengers can currently travel between three different stations underneath the convention center. To ride, they simply go down an escalator and hop into an available vehicle. The cars are steered by human drivers and can go up to 40 miles per hour. The entire 1.7 miles can be covered in about two minutes. The company says it could transport up to 4,400 passengers per hour when operating at full capacity.

While the system currently only covers the convention center, New Atlas reports that there are plans to expand it to add a station at a nearby casino. Eventually, The Boring Co. hopes to expand the tunnels even further to create what they’re calling the Vegas Loop, which would have as many as 43 stations throughout the city.
