It’s no wonder, when 1 in 3 survey respondents who reside in New York state reported clicking on suspicious ads, links or attachments in the past year. On the other end of the spectrum, Kentucky was found to be the most secure state. Fifty-four percent of respondents said they check all permissions when downloading a new app, and just 26 percent that their email, phone number or address could be found on their social media.
Louisiana, New Jersey, Maryland and Tennessee rounded out the top five of the nation’s most digitally secure states. Nebraska, Oregon, Minnesota and West Virginia were the least secure after New York. Nebraska was found to be the most vulnerable to hackers and malware, while West Virginia was the most likely to suffer data loss. Pennsylvanians’ passwords are the most at-risk, while Minnesota ranked highest for vulnerability to identity theft.
