Why did Donald Trump shut down his new blog?

Answer: Reportedly, because it was getting mocked and had very few followers.

About one month after launching his own personal blog, possibly because he was basically banned from all social media, former President Trump has permanently shut it down. According to Business Insider, an anonymous insider told The Washington Post it was because he was unhappy with its level of engagement and the fact that it was being widely mocked.

Per an analysis from NBC News, the blog, called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” only had 212,000 engagements overall. By comparison, a single one of his tweets could often garner hundreds of thousands of engagements. The audience was also reportedly quite small.

Senior Trump aide Jason Miller told CNBC that the blog “was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on” and that it “will not be returning.” The page now redirects visitors to the former president’s official alert page where they can sign up for his “EXCLUSIVE updates.”
