California Tribal Police Officers Have No Access to Law Enforcement Databases
Tribal Police Chiefs Assn. filed suit
On the Cabazon Indian Reservation in Riverside County, Calif., tribal police operate like any other police force, except they are not allowed access to law enforcement databases. An article in the Ventura County Star, said California denies access to tribal officers. A spokesman for the state Attorney General's Office told the Star that tribes are not accountable. The California Tribal Police Chiefs Association, has filed suit in Riverside County Superior Court to gain access to state and federal criminal databases.
