Trump Names Social Media Director Dan Scavino

President-elect Donald Trump names key members of the White House communications team Dec. 22.

After working to fill top spots within his cabinet since winning the Electoral College vote in November, President-elect Donald Trump’s administration finally announced the senior staff of his White House communications team on Dec. 22.

Among those named to the senior posts was Dan Scavino Jr. who served as the Trump campaign’s social media director, according to National Public Radio reports.

Scavino, who will serve as the administration’s social media director, joins former Republican National Committee (RNC) official and Trump administration press secretary Sean Spicer, and longtime aide Hope Hicks, who will serve as strategic communications director.

Both as a campaign and incoming administration, the Trump team has seen its share of successes and failures on social media platforms. While Trump himself is a prolific tweeter, others in his administration have taken criticisms for occasionally questionable use of the communications channels.

For Trump, personal attacks lobbed across the platform have raised eyebrows as being unpresidential, while incidents like a campaign tweets featuring a six-pointed Star of David drew criticism for anti-Semitic undertones – though Trump’s camp deflected saying it was a “sheriff’s star” at the time.

For the MSM to suggest that I am antisemite is AWFUL. I proudly celebrate holidays w/ my wife's amazing Jewish family for the past 16 years. — Dan Scavino Jr. (@DanScavino) July 5, 2016
