The coronavirus pandemic has tested government in every way possible. As state and local employees shifted to work from home, agencies scrambled to make sure their workers had the tools and access they needed to maintain productivity and deliver crucial citizen services. Now, even as many places are beginning to lift their shelter-at-home regulations, it’s clear that much of the state and local workforce will remain remote for some time to come. Some agencies may even opt to let employees telework permanently.
Maintaining a positive employee experience is vital when a large portion of the workforce is working from a remote location. For workers to do their job, the employee experience has to be virtually indistinguishable from being in the office. Providing the right access to necessary applications and resources – and ensuring that access is safe and secure – will be an integral part of any organization’s IT strategy for the months ahead.
