Ashley Bolton, former CIO with the city of Littleton, Colo., is now serving as the chief data and information security officer with the city and county of Denver.

Bolton’s first day in the new role was Nov. 28, Denver Chief Digital Officer Jenny Schiavone told Government Technology via email.

“Ashley is an inspiring leader who brings a fantastic skill set and knowledge of Colorado, technology, data and security to Denver,” said Denver CIO David Edinger in a LinkedIn post. “I can't wait to see how she grows and inspires our team to do even more great things!”

Paul Kresser had previously served in the role between March 2019 and September 2022, when he took over as deputy CIO. Schiavone explained that CISO responsibilities were part of Kresser’s purview, though his title didn’t accurately reflect that at the time.

Bolton’s experience — both in the public sector with the city of Littleton and in the private sector prior — equip her with a wealth of IT knowledge that she can leverage in her new role.

The role was competitively recruited, Schiavone noted.
Julia Edinger is a staff writer for Government Technology. She has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Toledo and has since worked in publishing and media. She's currently located in Southern California.
