Sixty-nine percent of counties are using artificial intelligence in their cybersecurity programs. Other common places to use AI are in predictive analytics (33 percent), intrastructure inspections (29 percent), speech recognition (24 percent) and fraud detection (24 percent).

Counties identify the following as their greatest staffing needs in coming years:
- Cybersecurity (91%)
- Business intelligence and data analytics (84%)
- Innovative tech (63%)
County IT leaders ranked their top priorities as:
- Cybersecurity
- Citizen experience
- IT staffing
- Business intelligence/analytics
- Disaster recovery/continuity of operations
