Two more officials, Housing Secretary Fernando Gil and Department of Family Secretary Glorimar Andújar, were fired Sunday, a day after Carlos Acevedo, the director of Puerto Rico's emergency management agency, was let go.
"There have been actions by government officials that have been completely unacceptable," Gov. Wanda Vázquez said Sunday.
Vázquez, who met with her administration Saturday, said she had lost confidence in Gil and Andújar.
"They weren't able to personally tell me specifically where these centers were located, what they contained and whether an inventory was completed," she said.
The warehouse, in Ponce, was discovered Saturday, filled with food, diapers, baby formula and thousands of cases of water meant for Puerto Ricans riding out Maria in September of 2017.
"This is outrageous," Ponce Mayor María Meléndez said Saturday. "Everyone knows what us mayors went through after Hurricane Maria to try and get help to our cities and how we've worked these weeks to provide basic supplies to people affected by earthquakes. Those involved owe us an explanation."
Maria, which made landfall as a Category 5 storm, killed almost 3,000 people and left hundreds of thousands of families without power for months.
In the past month, Puerto Rico has seen what the U.S. Geological Survey referred to as an "earthquake sequence," beginning with a 4.7-magnitude quake on Dec. 28. An estimated 300 earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 or higher have been recorded since then.
