The three-year contract is between Delaware and Delaware Interactive, a Dover, Del.-based subsidiary of NIC and includes three one-year renewals that can extend the agreement through September 2017.
“We are excited to open our Dover office and begin hiring in Delaware to complement the experienced NIC team we have in place,” said Harry Herington, NIC CEO and chairman of the board, in a statement. “We appreciate the confidence the state of Delaware has placed in us, and look forward to delivering a wide range of online services to its citizens and businesses.”
As part of the agreement, Delaware Interactive will concentrate on increasing the number of online services available to citizens and businesses on Delaware.gov.
Does the contract signal a refresh is in the works for delaware.gov? If that’s in the plans, it won’t be an immediate goal, according to Angela Skinner, director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations for NIC.
“In the case of Delaware, not in the short-term,” Skinner said. “This is really a focus on online application development.”
