The first YouTube movie, Life in a Day, which features 5,000 hours of video footage from users worldwide, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Four hundred video cameras were sent to Africa, Latin America and remote areas for individuals to film a day in their life.

The British Library is launching its first app, Treasures, for the iPhone, iPad and Android, so users can visit its collections from anywhere in the world. The app includes more than 100 highlights from the library’s collections, including literary, historical, music-related and scientific documents.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has contracted with 12 university research teams to develop a technology that will provide visual intelligence capability for unmanned systems. The development program, called Mind’s Eye, aims to give military personnel the ability to conduct reconnaissance missions without placing humans in dangerous situations.
