How is Volvo trying to get people to ignore the Super Bowl?

Answer: With facial recognition technology.

Volvo is challenging people to have a staredown with an app instead of watching professional football’s biggest game of the year. Three non-viewers will win a two-year subscription to Care by Volvo, through which they will get a brand-new S60 Momentum Sedan for two years (maintenance and insurance included in the subscription).

To play, all you have to do is not look away from the app, which plays footage of the S60. The app uses facial recognition technology to determine if the player is looking at his or her screen. Players can listen to the Super Bowl all they want, but if they look away from their phones, they have to start over and decrease their chances of winning. The game, called The Longest Drive, is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and any iPhone generation 8 or later.
