In a pilot currently underway in Arizona, Uber has expanded a program that it originally created to bring its service to seniors or those without easy access to a smartphone. Riders can now call to request a ride, much like we used to have to do for taxis.

To use the service, riders simply call 1-833-USE-UBER and are connected with a live operator who will book their ride for them. Riders can request any of Uber’s features such as luxury or wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Plus, Uber doesn’t charge any additional fees for calling in rather than using the app.

“We built 1-833-USE-UBER to expand access for anyone that prefers a little extra assistance when they want to use our services,” said Uber Head of U.S. City Operations Danielle Sheridan. “There's always more to be done, but this feature brings the convenience of live support to our matching technology so everyday customers get the ride they want.”
