To be deployed in Seattle, the truck was made by BYD and has a Viper rear-loading body made by New Way. It has a 320 kW powertrain, 1101 Nm (812 ft-lbs) electric motor, and a 295 kWh battery pack, that can haul a maximum weight of 57,500 to 60,000 pounds. It’s maximum speed and range are 65 mph and 56 miles, respectively, and can make 600 pickups. The recharge time is nine hours on a 33 kW AC outlet.
Ars Technica reports that this is the first of two of these vehicles that Recology ordered in 2018, though there is no word yet on when the second truck is expected to arrive.
