This past Monday, shoppers in the U.S. hopped online and spent a record $10.8 billion. Per Adobe Analytics, as reported by CNBC, that’s 15.1 percent more than was spent on Cyber Monday in 2019, a new record. That’s still lower, however, than Adobe’s original prediction of $12.7 billion, although the firm had been bringing that number down in the days before Cyber Monday.
Adobe originally estimated that online sales for the entire holiday season would come in at about $189 million. They’ve been decreasing that number lately as well, with a current prediction of $184 million. That’s still a 30 percent increase from last year’s numbers, and given that the coronavirus pandemic has driven more people to shop online this year, it doesn’t seem like an unlikely forecast.
